ordering cam kit..which one?

Mods are in sig..im not really looking to get ported heads soon if at all so keep that in mind..from whom ive talked to they gave me two options

option A: 224/230 duration, .536"/.544", 112lsa

option B: 227/233 duration, .560"/.569", 112lsa
227/233 duration, .560"/.569", 111lsa

What do you all think of these? any input or if you don't like these and want to suggest another set-up feel free im open to options! btw..are there any other add-ons ya'll would feel neccisary to add to the combination kit they have out? thanks!

Re: ordering cam kit..which one?

I have the XE 227/233... let me tell you. I like it a lot. I only have surge until about 1300rpms, NONE in 5th and 6th. It pulls nasty (but falls on its face because of my stock Manifolds )

Put down 302/304 as my valvetrain being my only mod with a Loudmouth catback. Pulled nice and hard until about 5100 then then the torque died while the hp climbed a little. I was also tuned to a 112lsa cam and running WAY lean on my a/f ratio... almost a 14.0 actually...

My tuneup and long tubes will fix that drop off right up though.

By the way, I have it on a 114lsa, not a 112. It lopes pretty good on the 114 and keeps the power band almost near stock.

Yea, there is a guy on the board here with 383rwhp and like 360rwtq on a 230/236 and ported heads.

On stock heads, i'm hoping to be in the same league as the CC306 because I haven't seen anyone else on the forums with my setup yet. So we'll see!!

Well I dont want to sound like a broken record but buying a cam before getting your heads ported is like buying gas and not having a car. A cam should be created around the heads performance. A good custom heads and cam should be the way to go. Get a set of LE or AI heads and have the cam designed around the flow of the heads and performance meassures you want.

The cam will definately show gains. Having all the bolt ons to go with it is even better. My suggestion only looks to the future and keeping you from having to yank that cam when you are not happy with the results of the ported heads.

Try this thread.

This was initially a cam-only upgrade with a cam that will work with ported heads. It may not be exactly what YOU need, but it shows what a custom cam can do for you.

Is there a real big difference in power even with stock manifolds? I was thinking about doing a cam in my car with the stock manifolds.

What is the idle sound compareable to as far as other cams, cc305, cc306,etc?

Haven't heard those other cams on stock manifolds, those cams even on a 114lsa. The lope is definitely noticable, but very slight. It seems to be more noticable now then it was when I first got it actually... it sounds nice imo.

I ran a 13.8 @ 104 on a 2.3 60ft... 35 degrees out, couldn't hold traction and didn't want to roast my tires to much.

Car kind of falls off at like 5100 though.. stock manifolds allow NO breathing which is why Pacesetter LT's are going on.

Puts down 300+rwhp and tq... so all in all, I think it adds power L0L
