Optispark problems
Has anyone ever heard of buying an optispark distributor from a local shop (i.e. Autozone, pepboys, Kragen) and the disbutor would work but the degrees were off so bad that the knock sensor couldn't adjust it enough to get rid of any knocking/detonation?
A local mechanic told me of that issue just yesterday and I am unsure if I should actually change the distributor again or not. (money is no worry because I have a lifetime warranty) It's just a lot of work!!!

Lifetime warranty is on the opti. Autozone offered it here so I took full advantage of it since we all know they dont last very long! And since I can do all the labor myself, I dont have to pay a dime anymore.
I personally wouldn't waste my time with the Autozone optis. I had 2 of them go out on me within just a couple of months time, and I only really drive the car on weekends. I took the second one back got a full refund and put in an OEM one and haven't had a problem since. For me the problem was the sensor both times although I don't think it was misaligned, just couldn't take the heat.
