optispark

will it pull a code when the optispark goes bad . my car had a bad miss and didnt want to run to well to day when i went to pick it up. then it shut off on me and i had to push it back to the shop . its getting spark from the coil but nothing out of the sparkwires . it smells like it getting fuel . he pull the codes for me but i forgot what he told me . any help thanks guys

It means the optical sensor had a hiccup. It could mean it is about to go south or just a freak thing. If your rotor is bad, you will get no spark out of the opti, even if there is spark going in by the coil wire. The rotor or cap won't throw any codes in an OBD-I equipped car. OBD-II (96-97) may pick up some spark trouble as misfires while the opti is still somewhat working.
