Question Optispark?

Do any of you guys know what this is, how hard it is to replace and where I can find a replacement?

Optispark is the distributor on the 93-97 model Lt1 camaros. If ya do a search you can find tons of info on this.

We're actually still trying to figure out what its main purpose is.

Buy one from Dal. They sell unvented ones for $280. Pretty damn good price IMO.

dal? I am unfamiliar. is it worth the money for the delteq setup? planning on a cam and heads in a few months. dealer is trying to rape me on this 2600 for the opti, intake gasket, plugs and wires. WHAT A CROCK! thanks for the info

You need the vented opti since you have a 1996 model. They are cheaper and last longer than the unvented. Whatever you do.. dont go to any general GM dealership to purchase without applying a thick layer of lubrication! Instead get one from Dal who sells parts at cost instead of retail so they are essentially half-price. If you wish you install an opti yourself then do a search b/c there are a few other things you will need.

I did a search and found a site that on one of the other threads that seems pretty indepth. Think Im going to tackle it this weekend. If any other pointers do tell. Otherwise will let you know how it turns out. And I pray that it doesnt take 10 hours like the other guy.
