Options for bolt in oil pump pick-up tubes
Options for bolt in oil pump pick-up tubes
It looks like Summit sells a Melling pump(pn MEL-10555) that takes a bolt in pick-up tube but has choices for 3 tubes of idfferent pan depths. Whats the depth on a stock pan, 7, 7.5, or 8 inches? Are there any other brands that sell the bolt in style screen? Ive had my stock pickup tube welded and it didnt hold for some reason making it 3 times that the pickup tube has fallen out so Im looking for a little extra added assurance since this last time it almost cost me my motor. Thanks guys
Re: Options for bolt in oil pump pick-up tubes
Thanks for the reply but Im not going to take any chances this time but if I cant get ahold of a bolt in tube, I might use that as a last resort. Something else that I just saw was a pick up tube retainer that Summit sells for like $10. Thet might be a easy fix for me.
Also, I just picked up a Melling M155 oil pump just to see how the stock pick up fits and the diameter of the tube is WAY too small for the diameter of the hole in the pump housing. What screen goes with the M155 pump because the stock one aint cuttin it! Would it be the 155s maybe? I cant remember all the PN's but all I know is that AutoZone didnt carry it.
