Optimum Header size
Optimum Header size
Im looking to get a new set of headers for my lt1 that is in a sonoma. Im running LE ported trick flow heads (2.08/1.65 valves) and 1 5/8 longtube headers. Not a great combo, but what I was stuck with at the time. The time has come that Im going to pull the truck off the street and just race it at the track. This will open up a new world for headers since I can got with a set of headers that exit through the fenderwells. The headers Im looking at can be had from 1 5/8 though 2" primaries with at least one set that is stepped from 1 3/4 to 1 7/8. My question is how do I figure out what would be the best sized header for my combo and application. These will be ran open.
Specs
97 lt1 383
Le ported trick flow heads
Le custom cam for nitrous use, .600 lift,236/240 with 107 centerline
11.5:1 static compression
250 direct port shot
4l80, 4.10 gears with 28" tall tires
3600 rpm stall converter
around 3500lbs with driver right now, soon to go on a diet, shooting for 3200lb range.

slammed98 you are a friend of Lt4blazer......Fannon.....
you guys got it goin on out there!
Didn't Fannon use the Sanderson 1-3/4 shorties and convert them to Longtubes?
I am going to use the fender exit style hedder on my Bracket S10 by hedman #502-65855 1-7/8
or build a set similar, you can also use the #50265849 1-3/4 LTs
if you dont mind your exhaust looking like this fender exit is the easiest way NOT MY TRUCK.

Yeah we are buddies, how do you know him?
he used to have some sanderson shorts, we had some headers made by a guy in arizona that he is using, i sold mine because they where going to require me to move the engine forward over an inch and i dont have room to do that.
Im planning on going with the fenderwell exit and not more after that, im not going to worry about any exhaust, exhaust is for street trucks
I just didnt know if i wanted to dick around with the adapter plates for the 1 7/8 headers or not.

i have PM'd Fannon on s10v8.com a few times.
i hear you about the adaptors for the BIG TUBES,i definately would not move the motor foward either......sounds like you may be fabricating a set of fender well hedders....atleast you know they will fit..

slammed.... maybe I came across wrong in my earlier post, I wasn't complaining about the content of your question or even if it belonged in this forum. (It's not my job anyway) I was just trying to offer you some other choices to get some alternate opinions, but judging by the other posts above you didn't need that help. And, as far as I can tell you still haven't got an answer to your question. Good luck with that.
