You must get 2 water pump gaskets. If you need to replace the opti seal in the timing cover, you will need that, too. If you spy any other leaking seals in the timing cover, it would be a good time to replace them as well.

i am doingthe same thing. i can not get the seal to go in straight. should i have done this with the timing cover off? i already put it back in the car. i tried to make a tool out of pvc. i could not find a pipe with a inner diameter of 1.25 inchs so it is a little big. but i still can not get the seal in correctly even with this. i keeps wanting to go in crooked

You might find a really good post on this if you do a search.
I used a technique I learned on this board, if you use the water pump drive shaft and clean it up dab some oil on it and slide your new seal onto it and then put it on the drive shaft you can walk the new seal into place and then use a socket the same diameter as the seal and gently hammer it into place........worked like a charm for me.
