Hmmmmm I broke the connector that goes into the opti …

I just got off the phone with one of the local dealers and I have a few questions they could not answer pertaining my wiring harness.

I am up in the air about buying the whole new wiring harness part # 12130319 which is the whole harness from the opti to the engine. GM also sells just the connector part # 12162861 (what is this?)
Is this just the plastic connector and can I take out the cuts of the old connector and stuff it into the new connector, because this only 2 bucks instead of $70-100.
