Opti vacuum harness connected to all but elbow...problem?
Opti vacuum harness connected to all but elbow...problem?
I am trying to figure out why my new 383 whats to die when i come to a stop light or red light, it idles perfectly but when i drove it and slow down it dips to 500ish rpms and stays there about to die, sometimes it will cut out or sometimes if it stays there long enough it will go back to idle. It was ruled out as being a tuning issue with various tests run, it appears toi be a physical issue. I was thinking this could be it...I converted my car to a ram air setup and vented opti, i have the vented upto connected via the vacuum harness to the intake manifold and to the opti, BUT i do not have the little plastic elbow that goes into the elbow or bellows (ram air guys) connected, i have it on the side of the motor. Is this causing a vacuum leak??? If so, can this be causing my issue?
Re: Opti vacuum harness connected to all but elbow...problem?
Yes without the other end of the vacuum line connected to the intake, between the MAF and the TB you've created a small vacuum leak. That's not helping your stalling issue but I don't think that's your only problem. Your IAC (idle air control) may be dirty.
Re: Opti vacuum harness connected to all but elbow...problem?
If the restrictor is in the line between the opti and manifold there would be little of a vacuum leak, like was mentioned, but you are pulling dirty air into your opti.
Re: Opti vacuum harness connected to all but elbow...problem?
All my sensors are new, i guess i can put a hole into the bellow and then see where i stand with the dieing at the light issue...
Re: Opti vacuum harness connected to all but elbow...problem?
its reading below .90 at closed, i think its like .80 or something, which is acceptable i think. It MITE be my maf, its the stock old one...HMMM intersting
Re: Opti vacuum harness connected to all but elbow...problem?
