Opti replacement

Have my 95 in the shop for a new opti. The first one they installed had power going in and nothing coming out. The second new opti arrived today and I faxed pictures to the mechanic showing the Optispark Drive Mechanism and the Optispark Mounting Exploded View (Thanks shbox!) to make sure he is installing it correctly. Anything else I should share with the mechanic?

Thanks…..Bob

If you have to give the mechanic pics, you should definitely get a new mechanic. I would try to find a mechanic that is well experienced with the LT1.

Make sure he knows to properly place the cam dowel in the correct slot on the opti. The opti "can" be bolted down with the dowel in the incorrect slot and it will typically destroy the opti. I've done many opti's and one time I did install it incorrectly even though it looked flush. The car would crank backfire and die. Luckily it did not destroy the opti. Also from experience I've learned it's wise to start the car for a few seconds after installing the opti but before reinstalling everything else. This saves time in the event that something wasn't right and prevents you from having to remove everything again.
