Opti questions
Opti questions
While driving the other day my car started backfiring through the intake then a little while later just quit. I've followed the directions here (excellent thread BTW).

Here are my questions.
1. I tested my fuel pressure and it's a little low, around 34-36psi with engine off. Could this be a problem? I haven't changed the filter so i'm hoping that's the reason for low pressure.
2. I've confirmed no pulsing ground to the injectors so I take it the optical sensor is not working. However I am getting some spark to at least the number three plug. It seemed not very strong though (orange flame instead of blue) and the coil still has spark but again not a blue flame just orange. Is that normal with a broken opti?

I don't know the answer to the orange spark question, but I do know that its a lot easier/cheaper to replace the coil than the opti, so if you're thinking the coil is weak, swap it out first.
If you have a friend with an LT1 car borrow his coil for a test.
