Opti Preventative maintance?

Well since the opti in our cars is notoriously knows to screw up either by itself or with the help of the water pump, is there anything I can do to prevent it from crapping out?

- Check your vacuum hoses. Make sure there are no crack, leaks, blockage.
- Some people like to tighten / locktite etc the scews holding the rotor in place
- you can rtv the seal on the case to help make it water tight, better be clean though. Could get messy inside.

Of course I only speak for the vented optis, dont know the old ones.

Not much you can do other then preventing it from getting wet.

Well if I understand correctly the 93s came with a sealed opti, so would RTVing it really be worth the trouble?

I would think checking that the vaccume lines are working correctly and not blocked would be the best preventative maintenance you could do on a higher milage opti

That would be good if he had a vented opti, but seeing that he has a 93, it is non-vented.
