Question Opti not quite flush

How can I be assured that I have installed my new opti all the way on. It's close, but not quite flush with the timing chain cover. It seems like it should be 1/16" to 1/8" tighter. Thanks in advance!

That means its not fitting into the pin niche needed so the cam can turn it. Look at the back of the opti and you should see a notch at the top of one of the passages. This is where the pin should connect.

I just put mine on yesterday and mine was the same way, but when I put the bolts in it tightened it up.

Better to make it go flush by hand. If you don't and tighten it down, you might hear a snap and there goes an ear of the opti. Pull it off and make sure the dowel pin is going into the right spot on the back of the opti.

Re: Opti not quite flush

pull it out again and make sure the dowell is on the correct spot. I was installing an opti today and noticed that you can actually get it about 1/8'' close with it being in the wrong place. The dowel is probably on on of the circular shaped areas and not the propper place. tightening it is not gonna help, you may damage more by forcing it to seat. take it out and reinstall it after lining the dowel with the groove ... it may take a few tries but that's the only way
