Opti Assistance Pictures Included

So I replaced my fan switch, how neive I was. Fluid poured all over my opti, and from that moment it stopped working. I also took the advice from some of the members on this board and I'm updating my cooling system I already bought a new waterpump its very shiny. I also ran water through my radiator a long time, it went from very orange to a very slight tint of orange. I am also planning on running that rust remover once I get everything put back on.

Now for the real issue, I am not sure if its just the cap and rotor or if the entire optical spark is bad. I took it apart, and the rotor looks like complete dog crap, the cap is the pegs correct? Well unfortuantly I can't get a close look of them but they look like someone chewed on them and they have tiny amounts of "rust" on them Im not really sure if thats what it is. You can see the rotor, the cap, and the optical sensor pieces on my Yahoo! photos page linked below. There is also a picture of my car when one of my bleeder valves some how came loose, I wasn't having a problem with the opti until I changed out the fan switch on the bottom right of the water pump.

The optical sensor is what I am concerned about, if you guys will notice if anything looks bad about them. Someone was telling me that if your car has difficulty starting it is probably the optical metal part.

I can afford the cap and rotor but not the optical part.

NOTE: In the picture optical2 it looks like its rusty, that is actually the cleanest one its just a strange glare from the camera. It looks like shiny aluminum.

If you can afford a cap and rotor kit from an auto parts store, you can afford a complete opti from Dal or Jason (~$220). If there is any rust inside, IMO you should replace the whole thing.

Cap and rotor is usually not the problem. Those are hard parts that can be cleaned. The optical sensor is usually suspect.

Re: Opti Assistance Pictures Included

If thats the case then I could just clean them, and buy a new optical sensor?

Just looking for a cheap way out. If nothing comes my way I'm buying a full one in two weeks. For now I'm driving the honda.

I don't know of any place you can get the optical sensor. Better to replace the whole thing and be done with it.
