opti apart, shows signs of arcing

Ok opti's apart and I can see that rotor is worn out(90000) miles and also can see visible signs of acring across at least 4 of the terminals, or what ever you call them.Everything is clean and dry and no signs of anything other than excessive wear.I'm hoping seals on the shaft can be bought or o-ringed can anyone help me here, the inner seal fell apart while I was holding opti taking it apart.

90k miles- it's time for a new one. IMO, I would not bother with trying to fix anything. $190-ish from Jason or Dal.

If it's been arcing (carbon tracking) then replace it. The spark will follow those tracks after a while. Sometimes the arcing gets bad enough to take out the optical sensor. You may or may not see this depending on how bad it was.

BTW: 4 of my terminals showed signs of arcing as well, not worth "fixing" in my opinion.

Remember, this is a distributor cap and rotor. There is going to be some wear on the terminals from the voltage and they don't last forever. Actually, I am surprised that some last as long as they do. Who would ever think of leaving a distributor cap and rotor on an old SBC engine for 100k miles?

I actually found metal shavings in mine after 98k. I thought it was dirt but I took a closer look and its metal! I think after my bearing calapsed the rotor actually hit the terminals.
