Opinions on TEA heads....

I'm thinking about getting a set of these but I don't know much about flow #'s etc. I can get a set for a pretty good deal, but I wanted some feedback on them first. Here are the flow #'s on them

Intake
.100 63.8
.200 134.9
.300 191.7
.400 234.9
.500 260.1
.550 265.8
.600 268.1

Exhaust
.100 55.7
.200 111.0
.300 159.9
.400 193.1
.500 215.3
.550 223.8
.600 231.0

Yes. Thats just how they do it though, It's not an effort to inflate their numbers. From what i've seen, their heads walk the walk on the dyno and the track. There are other things that go into heads than peak cfm. Having a consistent port area so that the velocity is uniform is very important thing for intake tuning and that doesn't show up on a flowbench. Not being 'hogged out' to a huge overall port volume which will kill velocity. Midlift numbers should not be comprimised because the port sees them twice per valve event versus the peak occuring once. I'm not a professional porter, but i know that you can't race flow numbers.

Best thing you can do is call Brian Tooley and talk to him about their heads. You can tell him I sent you (Chris Renner).

He flows the exhaust with a pipe because in the engine you'll have a header attached...so the pipe really does a better job of simulating the real flow condition. THe problem with that is it is harder to compare the numbers to other head porters, but Brian can help "translate" that number.

For the money, only Lloyd Elliot is cheaper. TEA will give you excellent customer service and they stand by their product like no other company I've ever done business with. If you heads do not perform like they should they will make it right.

They just completed a new CNC program for the LT1 and flow is up a little over those numbers. I was getting a set this month to replace my Lloyd's heads but financial reasons on my end killed the deal. For max flow, have Tooley hand blend the CNC job. They had a set come off the CNC last week that flowed 290 intake BEFORE hand blending...I believe that was more of a "max effort" head and not something you'd run on the street (basically hogged out) but that just shows the performance they can squeeze out of a set of stock castings.

I am going with TEA heads for the 355 build up I am doing. I talked to brent for about 1/2 hour a week or so ago. Very helpful and very knowledgable. Tuley does amazing things with small block ford heads, especially trick flows.
