Re: opinion on combo

you would prolly be safe with dropping the HV oil pump and just getting a stock replacement, that way you dont need the larger oil pan. the stock replacement will handle your setup just fine.

Re: opinion on combo

just get a melling stock replacement. i dont think youd need the HV version. some people have actually lost power by going with one since it pumps so much more than a stocker, leaving a stock pan looking for more oil.

Re: opinion on combo

if this machine shop doesnt have a flowbench they have no business touching any cylinder heads. why would you build a 350 with aftermarket crank/rods/pistons when you can build a 383 for the same price? also, the scat 9000 crank wont hold a decent running NA setup with a bottle. that combo should make over 550rwhp (on the bottle with the 3.48" crank, if the heads/cam are right) on a crank that will only take 500flywheel. you are also gonna need more fuel system then that on the bottle. its also gonna need $6/gallon race gas on the bottle.

Re: opinion on combo

not everyone wants the extra torque of the 383's.

Re: opinion on combo

the heads werent done by a machine shop.. they spend about two weeks on a flow bench and porting.. i just gave the machine shop the flow charts and they called their guys.. as for the 355 setup... well i just dont like the whole 383 thing.. something about that number..lol.. the next motor will be 400+ci but i just need this thing to last a year or two till i save up more.. and i also got the crank rods and pistons at a very discounted price.. the fuel pump for the n20 is the older NOS fuel pumps that used to come with kits.. and the tank for it has 114 octane.. i plan on running 100 octane in the main tank.. which crank would you recomend?

Going with a 383, you can toss the same cam in and it wouldnt feel anything similar than the same one in a 355.

Re: opinion on combo

if youre keeping with a 355, id just get your stock crank prepped and polished, and have the journals checked.
