Only when its hot
Only when its hot
Ok I had this issue a few weeks ago when i had it running before. I stopped for Wendys for the first time in over a month and when I came out I couldnt start it. It was right on a major road so I couldnt hear a thing and I left it to cool off till later. When I returned it started right up.
Now I have been battling a high idle and bad running. It sucks all the time except at idle and seems to shift too fast into second no matter what(Ive gotten a new computer, intake gasket, IACV,opti, Harness, plugs, and wires) Maybe this has something to do with the problem Im dealing with now.
Today I went to return a ICM I tried out(Im bad) and when I came out it wouldnt start again. This time I thought about it and couldnt hear the fuel pump running. I went to get something to eat and let it cool. When I came back ,still nothing. I tried to short the relay cuz I had a regular ol Bosch relay sitting around I used instead of a high$$ dealer part and I just jumped the terminals. Well that didnt work so I used the fuel pump primer wire and that didnt work either, but on both tries I could see a small spark when they touched.
My buddy came out the parts store and I asked him to turn the key as I wiggled the pump connector. It worked then and got me almost home. being as I dont have a dash in I think I ran it out of gas and had to push it about 1/3 of a mile. I dont know if it was the connector or the pump? What does everybody think?
BTW the dash is out cuz Im fiberglassing it smooth to paint it, thats been fun! Always use less hardner then they say! I got a few resin ***** I had to dump

I swapped out the icm today and the dam fuel pump went out again! I got one brought in from my buddy who swapped it out and is a driver at the store I got it from. I put it in and started it up, voltage was off so idle was high. I killed it and the alt fired back up so I went for a drive. It feels great, drives hard, and seems to stop at about 213 degrees where the lt-1s wanna be. I came back home , puleld in the driveway and saw the strainer sitting on the driveway! I forgot it
I moved the icm to the fender yesterday being as it did it again with the new ICM. I was at pep boys for an app and it laughed when I checked the box that said " Do you have reliable transportation to and from work?" If it had a comment section I would have put "Yeah a cab". Something else still isnt right after its been sitting at 220 for about 5 minutes
I pasted all this being as it seems somebody deleted my original thread I had. I did a search and couldnt find it

maybe I should shorten my question to: why am I getting a miss after the car sits at 213-220 for a few minutes? If I rev it its ok for a few more minutes. I moved the Ignition control module to the fender so itll stay cold
Your car shouldn't be going to 220 degrees. Mine only gets to 190 which is the stock thermo setting. You might have f'ed something up when you removed the dash, especially due to the fact you say it changes when you move your seat...

Anytime I ever ran into a car that wouldnt start up while hot the first things I checked was fuelk pump and Coil. Both are very suceptable to heat re-lated failure, ESCPECALLY if you are low on gas. the gas disapates the heat and carries it away from the pump. I wouldnt worry about your engine miss till you fix your pump. It is possible that the miss is being caused by the pump overheating the fuel. Hot fuel = bad. How fast does it get up to 220? you saying like 30 seconds or 3 minutes?
