One primary, number 5, glows red hot.

This is my daily so i need to figure it out fast, because i dont want to drive it until its fixed.

What would cause one primary to glow that hot?

intake leak?
burnt valve?
Bad injector?

well it would seem that its not burning the fuel, and just getting really hot. my best guess... any SES light or any other problems being caused?

Maybe check your timing? It could be off and that cylinder is showing the results first. Or maybe the one injector is not working correctly and is putting out a real lean condition? Just some thoughts.

no ses lights

there seems to be a miss fire between 1400 and 2100 rpm other than that its smooth and pulls like a rapped ape

just this one primary getting that hot really worries me because it could lead to burnt valves, melted pistons and as a college student i cant afford that right now...

Do a leak down, it could be the exhaust valve is either burnt or has trash under it preventing it from closing all the way.

Swap the injector with another cylinder and see if the trouble follows. While you have the rail off, pressurize it and see if any injectors are leaking.

i pulled the plug out on that cylinder and it looked completely normal.

could it be a intake leak?

I know theres about a million and 2 things it could be
broken valve spring
bad injector
burnt valve
intake leak
blown or bad head gasket
lost lobe on cam
bad lifter not opening valve all the way

if its anything super labor intensive then i guess ill be doing heads and cam sooner

i need to get this fixed, help please?

would a leaking egr valve cause this?

primary number 5 on bank 1 seems kinda random though.

whats the simplest way to check for a vacuum leak?

have you moved the injector like shoebox said? pull the valve cover to check the valves, rocker, motion of those parts? tried anything at all? I think it has to be something at that specific location, not something like an EGR or something else that would have an effect to all the cylinders.

well i replaced the o-rings on that injector, made sure it was seated correctly, then i reset the ecm, it seemed like that kinda helped but the problem is still there.

is there any chance at all that spark could be causing this problem?

to hot of a spark?

Did you follwo this advice? It's exactly what I was going to recommend. Maybe it's a clogged or faulty injector.

Intake leak would affect all cylinders, and the EGR would most likely effect the #8 primary if I remember where it's hooked up correctly.

I'm not trying to be a *****, but you need to dig in there and try some of the suggestions made here, just bumping it to the top isn't going to fix it
