One for the experts Coolant bubbling out filler neck
OK experts, come one, come all. I just had my radiator replaced because it cracked near the radiator cap. Now, after about 5 minutes of idle, coolant will bubble out of the radiator if the caps off and bubble out of the filler neck if the caps on. My cooling fans arent turning on either ...at all ...even at the correct temp, and its not the thermostat. So ..Could my non working fans be casuing the coolant to bubble over? or do I have a busted head-gasket which is pressurizing the radiator . or ..other?? Hit me with whatcha got
Thanks a head of time

Yes, it was properly bled, it was done at a radiator shop, then I did it again myself. Mainly just wondering if the coolant could be boiling out of the overflow tank because my fans arent turning on, keeping it cool. /sighonly had the car 3 weeks hehe
I dont believe not having the fans come on will cause coolant to gush out the overflow. When I had my cooling system fiasco last year, the fans worked and that still happened. The only consequence would be that you'd overheatif the car sat long enough. If coolant is overflowing that means the system is not fully sealed. Pressure is getting out, you have a leak somewhere. Check all hoses, connections and what not. I used JB weld on a mini crack right under the radiator cap on my car and no more mini leak. I had a hole in a hose coming off my waterpump and it caused my overflow to spew coolant everywhere. I also had a hole in my overflow bottle which I replaced as well.
On a completely full system, it is not unusual for the coolant to want to come out the top of the radiator when it warms up. If it immediately blows into the remote reservoir with the cap on, maybe you have a bad cap. Also make sure it is an 18 psi cap. What does the temp gauge say when it is doing all the overflowing?
Well, first, I'd like to say thank you to all those that posted. Second, It warms my heart what just happened. The guy at the radiator shop left work at 5pm when the shop closed. He ate dinner and the fact that my poor car wasnt running right after he worked on it bugged him SO much, that he went back to the shop and started checking all his work until amost 9:30. Turns out , he figured out the problem ( not sure what it was, think random air in the radiator system) Fixed it , and gave me a call. Glad to see some people still do it becaused they enjoy helping ppland just workin on cars, like all you who posted seem to
Thanks Again!!
