Talking OMG!! Headers and cutout install

WOW...soo its one in the morning in chicago and i JUST finnished the cutout install. I have ahad my headers in for a week, and tonight i spent about 4 hours welding in a custom offroad pipe with a cutout in the middle. Everything fit right the first time, which is awesome. So i roll the car into the street with my buddy, and fire it up.....HOLY ****!!!! Open shorties is out of control. I just wanted to say that if there are any other people out there considering running an ORP with a cutout, DO IT! This is not for everyone, i am a 17 yearold and can handle the vibration and noise. Maybe i should cap it and see what that sounds like.....NAH!

haha i have been kinda nervous about the cops...drove by prolly 5 already...Aslong as i see them first i just idle by and all is good. As for flanges, i welded a 3 bolt collecter flange to my Y-pipe and to a 3" pipe, that slips over and is welded to the cutout, theres another 3" pipe over the back of the cutout, welded, and then i took a sawzall to the back of my cat, and welded the back half of my cat to the last 3" pipe. Fits perfectly, and i can attach a cat when needed! send me your email if you want some pics....Ill take em while the car is on the lift at school tomarrow.

Heck yeah, my cutout is always open too. Just be careful in residential areas. The neighbors called the law on me for being too loud one day.....................i was suspicious that they did so i decided to cap it up just in case. Sure enough a cop showed up at my door and did a decibal test on my car. I passed with flying colors of course because i capped it up. I know how it feels to be young and not care about the noise. I am 18 myself. When people ask on the board about what exaust to get i always say.........................CUTOUT!!!!!!!!

I agree, I am 21 and I have been running a cutout on my car for about a month or two now, but with stock manifolds, and it sounds great! Especially at idle and WOT! I can't wait to see what it will sound like with long-tubes! I capped it the other night to see the difference and I had gotten so used to the cutout that it sounded like my car wasn't even running it was so quiet, it was uncapped the next morning!

Yeah, open headers are loud as hell. I had to close my cutout after about 10 minutes of open headers. I only open them when I'm at the track now.
