Is it okay to put thin layer of RTV between CSI pump and housing???

I thought just for added safety it would be good to put a thin layer of RTV so it would seal better between the CSI pump and the water pump housing... the guide did not say anything about but I mean **** everything else that comes in contact with liquid on the car has a gasket, why shouldn't this? I also left that little rubber o ring on there too. it seemed like it was already deep in that groove in the pump so I don't think it will hurt or help.

Thoughts??? I just want to know if I did something wrong, or if I'm missing something but I thought it would be better that way. Thanks.

When I didn't seal my Mezeire it leaked after 1 day, I used the blue permatex and I'm leakfree for over a year.

Doesn't make much sense to me UNLess the O ring is leaking. By putting something on the face, even a tiny bead of rtv, you will cause there to be a larger gap between the metal surfaces when tightened down. This will reduce the effectiveness of the O ring and it has less of a chance to do its job as designed. Then you will be reliant on the rtv and the Oring might as well not be in there.

Two is not always better than one. This reminds me of the guys my dad works with who want to use thread sealer AND teflon tape, he flips out hahaha.

I personally wouldn't install mine without some RTV, I used the black RTV on mine, and its been leak free for 18 months.

I put mine on dry with only the O-ring seal. The replacement one I put on was also dry. Neither has leaked. The manufacturers usually know what they are doing (not always). If it leaks, then I'd put the silicone on. The O-ring by itself should be more than enough.
