Exclamation OK to use pennies to plug AIR holes in manifolds?

I can't find ANYTHING to plug the holes left in the exhaust manifolds when I removed the air pump. I heard someone dropped pennies in the holes and screwed the original fittings back into the manifolds. That makes a lot of sense to me, has anyone had any problems with that (or see anything wrong with that, besides being ghetto)?

go right ahead if you can afford to throw money away like that. JK, haha, i called a penny money. As long as you don't use a BFHammer to install the pennys you'll probably be alright.

I didn't use pennys on mine, but i did you a beer bottle cap to fix my windshield washer resivor and it worked perfectly. I'm also used many a beer can to fix bikes costing as much as 2500 a piece.

Go back to napa tell them you need a "M-22 DRAIN PLUG" , they will have to look it up in their catalog, its an oil drain plug for some bmw of the 80's...

I'll give that a try tomorrow.

But, I still think the pennies will work, because there's no real pressure going past there (well its not anything incredible) and they are held in real well by the plugs that originally went in there. The only danger would be blowing a hole in the penny where its not held by the plugs, and I don't see that happening, unless I missed something.

hmm.. you better go pick up some plugs. i dont see that penny holding for very long. theres quite a bit of pressure there at WOT.. probably enough to blow out a penny.

Well, I called Napa today, and they don't have anything. I've been to every auto parts store in the area, as well as every hardware store. I can't find anything that will work. I don't know what to do.

I used a penny (actually a stack of pennies, cuz my headers had the wrong thread). Kinda glued em in there with some red sealant. Then I cut the flares off the ends of the original AIR tubes so I could get the nuts off em. Screwed those down into the bungs and the pennies ain't goin nowhere.

no problems yet...been a couple months...I highly doubt I'll have a problem. I'd say go for it. Nice part about cutting the nuts off the tube is you definitely have the proper thread there...I think I read that the M22 drain plug was actually off by like a gazillimeter

I bought some m22 oil drain plugs at pep boys, they are alot cheaper there, like a buck or two apiece. I'm pretty sure you can order them from napa's website too napaonline.com, i think thats it
