with that being said, and the sad fact that every other header in the world is 1/4 the friggin price of the lt1s,has anyone ever used a non lt1 header on their 4th gen car.i was wonderin if maybe a 3rd gen header or another model would work.also the patriot clipster mid length headers look like they might fit.i have true duals,so ill have to adapt the head pipes anyway,i just want to know if any cheaper type will clear the steering shaft and everthing else?

No, you will need to get an LT1 type header. 3rd GEN headers won't fit.

So if your cheap wait for a group purchase or buy mild steel headers. I bought my stainless steel SLP headers on GP from Tbyrne for only $350. Or you could get some cheap Pacesetters for a little over $200. Doesn't get any cheaper than that!

I consider myself pretty cheap to.

If you shop around you can find a nice set of used headers at a good price. My coated hooker long tubes were in great condition for $300.00
