Re: OK to re-torque head bolts?

I don't recall ARP asking for thread sealant on their BOLTS.They ask for their thread lube. The way I put in studs is with Locktite in the block(head put on with old gaskets and torqued) until it sets then remove the head and put on your good gaskets and use ARP lube on the nuts.I recon everybody is different.

Thanks for the replys guys. BUT whats the verdict here? Is the thread sealant going to be screwed up if the head bolts are re-torqued?

RTV, yes. A teflon sealant or teflon tape, I would say no.

Re: OK to re-torque head bolts?

Ok are you guys talking about studs or bolts...Because the original thread started as BOLTS! Im talking about ARP Bolts..I never use sealant,i put moly on all the threads then torque them down..I have 0 motors that leak coolant.
No coolant in the oil,no coolant on the heads nothing...
I have had one motor leak coolant and it was a splayed lt1 and whoever drilled the block drilled too far and went into the water jacket...In that case I used Teflon Paste on the threads and torqued them down and no more leak...

ARP recomends using their teflon thread sealer. It doesn't harden. They also recommend re-torqueing *their* bolts after the first heat cycle.

The head bolts are ARP's and they do have teflon thread sealer on them. So I will double check with Speed and most likely have them re-torqued. Thanks guys.
