OK to "hoist" car up by bumper support?

I pulled the motor from the bottom and it's ready to go back in soon. Is the bumper support sturdy enough to hook the cherry picker up to? I know it's only held on by four bolts. Any other suggestions?

I took a short chain and bolted it to both shock towers. The car weighs nothing on the front end when the kmember is out. I lifted mine up that way and moved it around that way.

Birdman, the engine is out with the k-member. I'm going to put the motor back on the k-member, then slide both back into place from the bottom.

What size bolts did you use for the shock towers?

I would use the biggest you can get to fit through the holes and the chain. I believe i got away with 3/8 inch grade 8's. Probably not to many 7/16's bolts that will fit through the chain.

FYI:

The bumper supports are plenty stout to do this. Worked great.

I thought about doing this but wasn’t sure. What part did you hook onto? The metal support that the hood latch is connected too?
