OK, EGR block off plate question

Would a bad(not sealing all the way) EGR block off plate(on pass side) that is not sealing all the way cause a low idle/die? I took it off,a nd it looks like ****, it is not a 1 piece...It originally had the hole in it, and was just filled in, with what looks like weld materiel. Would this cause the car to run really rich, throw code 33(MAP high), and not idle at desired PCM speed? EGR has already been disabled,a s well as AIR, and it is tuned as well as it could be, given the idle issues. It's an LT4 with CC306 and hooker longtubes, OBD1.

Do you have the drivers side EGR holes blocked off, or have the EGR valve still in there? Because if that side is blocked, the pass. side doesn't matter.

So your saying if you leave the egr valve it self on there. you can just leave the egr pipe from intake to exhuast manifold just open ? pluggin the exhuast manifold but leaving the intake pipe open?

Correct, that opening goes into the back of the manifold, then goes across to the EGR, which has two holes. The bottom hole leads into the EGR and when it opens goes into the manifold thru an upper hole. Hard to explain, I can send you a picture if you want.
The EGR has to be inactive though.

Yes, a leaking EGR blockoff will cause problems, just like a stuck open EGR valve. Poor idle/stalling/low vacuum will be the first thing noticed.

Because it just goes inside the manifold and over to the EGR valve, like anaik said. IOW, that part of the manifold is just like an extension of the EGR pipe. I am guessing that is it done that way to allow the gases to cool more before entering the EGR valve.
