Damn, you know that stuff can go 15,000 miles before an oil change right. I would never go 15,000 but even 6,000 would save you about $50 every oil change.

I use Mobil 1 0w-40 right now, but would like to switch to German Castrol 0w-30 if I can find someone who carries it. I hear the German Castrol is the best for LT1's. The oil I'm using now is probably the second best oil next to the GC.

I was going to put in Valvoline Max Life (or whatever it is) 20W50

Aren't you supposed to put in a heavier weight in higher mileage engines to prevent leaks from synthetics and the lower weight oils

At least thats what the autozone guy told me

I like to dump the Mobil 1 synthetic in mine as well. Its not cheap, but still cheaper then 5 quarts of Royal Purple.

Might I suggest you edit the question to ask "and why" because you are getting info not backed up by fact. I am not saying they are not posting the facts I am saying with certainty that several of these guys have ZERO data on which to backup their choices validity.
From what I am reading LT1 Power, porksoda and moparman have done some research, the others seem to be more likely relying on marketing.

I run Red Line 10w30 in Winter and 20w50 in summer.
Typically I change it at 10 to 12,000 miles.
I change the filter every 5 to 6000 miles, but 90% of my 120mile round trip to work each day is freeway at steady speed.
Not cheap at $8/qt., but I see it as cheap engine insurance.

Go read on this forums there:
http://theoildrop.server101.com/forums/ubbthreads.php

For a lt1 the 3 best choice base on oil analysis are:

-Castrol German synthec 0w30
-Amsoil European synthec 5w40
-Mobil 1 synthec 0w40

Since in Canada im unable to find some castrol, i use the amsoil one.
