Oil Recommedations

I've been running Max-Life since 75000. I read somewhere that Valvoline changed their formula and it wasn't as good so last time I used Pennzoil High Mileage (96000). Its due again and I thought I would get yall's opinion before I changed it. I know Its not good to change brands alot but you always hear stuff about Pennzoil.

Thank You very miv=ch.

sure you'll find a slew of oil preferences with the Search option. Personally I like Castrol 30wt on my LT1, change it every 3k and she's spotless internally. Synthetics are fine too but too expensive and I like changing mine frequently.

Thumbs up

mobil one synthetic oil is what ive used since i purchased my car in 1996. it now has approximatly 189,256 miles on an un-rebuilt lt1 and all of the cylinders have been compression checked at or near perfect. the mobil one is more expensive, but its worth it if u want the engine to last as long as mine has. Ive drove my car like a mad man and abused the h*ll out of it and its still running like a brand new engine.

Sweet. Well I've heard great things about Mobil 1....hell I used to work for a Mobil Lube Oil Plant few years ago. I have considered going to it but back about 10-15 yrs ago when synthetic oils came out and ppl were converting they started having oil/seal problems due to the synthetics altering the rubber compounds after using conventionals. Surely they don't have a problem with this anymore do they?

Can't go wrong with Mobil 1 5W30 and it's readily available at your local WalMart.

Thanks for the replies. Brettinator, I did try the search function but I think just about every post says something about oil. I usually find answers to my problems by searching. You can tell by my limited number of posts. Anyway, my car has a small oil leak. I'm not sure where it is coming from but I think its probably from the manifold. I just noticed a few weeks ago when I had my car in the garage over night. I have heard sythetics make leaks worse and possibly make new ones surface. What do yall think.

I got back my oil analysis results last week using German made Castrol Syntec 0w30 and this stuff performed incredibly well! I would be willing to bet that if anyone else on here did oil analysis on what they use, they'd have a very hard time beating the low wear numbers I saw, even I didn't expect to see them so low.

This oil is only sold in Autozone in the US, or Walmart and Canadian Tire in Canada. Here is how to spot it from the older US made Syntec 0w30:

well guys you convinced me with some many immediate replies to the person posting the question. Last night was pretty much the end of my break-in period so I changed it and went to Mobil 1
