Oil Pump Pan Pickup Questions

I'm in the process of beginning final assembly of a stroker. I'm using the Milodon p/n 30909 Stroker Low Profile pan and Moroso 22112 Blueprinted HV Pump with Milodon p/n 18301 pickup. The pump and pickup are 3/4".

Anyways the pickup doesn't fit, it's too high, (pan is 8.5"), and it seems to be "bent" in the wrong direction, it goes from the pump towards the rear main seal, which puts it very close to the back of the pan. Need a recommendation on a pickup that will work.

Also I bought a rear pan baffle, Milodon 32500, which looks like the only way to install it is "sandwiched" between the oil pump halves. It also will need to have holes drilled in it to clear the rear main studs. Is this normal?

Thanks.

Re: Oil Pump Pan Pickup Questions

OK Answering my own thread in case anyone else has a similar issue. Just got off of the phone with Summit Tech Support. Recommended pickup for the Moroso 22112 Pump is Moroso Part number 24360, for 8.25" depth pans. I'll update this thread if I have any further installation issues.

Re: Oil Pump Pan Pickup Questions

Update:
Got the new pickup from Summit yesterday and it will work fine. I also called Milodon about the baffle, and it does indeed get installed between the rear journal and oil pump. On my engine it will have to be drilled to clear the rear journal studs. I was told to install it without any sealer or RTV. The main purpose of course it to prevent oil from "creeping" up the back of the pan during hard acceleration, and after looking at the install it makes sense.

Yeah and most times you have to trim that baffel to fit the pans.

Not only trim it, but drill holes in it to clearance the rear main studs. Not exactly the most finely engineered piece I've ever seen. Basically a piece of thin sheet metal with a hole die cut to match the outline of the oil pump.

Yep... the holes are standard fare too.
