Oil pump drive play....

Sup guys....installing my Melling HV oil pump and notice there is some play in the drive shaft. Up and down wise. Is that normal?

yes. Just a check, when the oil drive shaft is installed you should not be able to move the shaft by hand if the short block is assembled.

what do you mean by that anser dude?? Yes it is supposed to have play but shouldn't be able to turn??? Is that what you mean?
