oil pump drive gear material?

oil pump drive gear material?

i would like to know what criteria to use when deciding what material to use for my oil pump drive gear.

what do you use for big hr set ups?
what do you use on solid roller set ups?
why?

personal set up:
lt1 355ci
comp solid roller

yeah, most of us just run stock engines with chrome trim.




seriously, just get a cam with a gear that is compatible with a metal/steel oil pump drive gear (NOT BRONZE).

The stock oil pump drive is about the only option for LT1's (once you see it, you'll know why).

ok

i already have a cam and installed it. also assembled the valvetrain and installed the oil pump drive assembly. the cam i put in is a small, used comp solid roller, i dont have a clue what its compatible with... what should i check, i have the grind numbers if that helps.

dont feel like loosing oil pressure cause i didnt ask about this...

If the cam has IG somewhere in the cam number or part number then it has the iron gear which is what works best with the stock iron gear oil pump drive. If it's an Ai cam it will have an "everwear" gear and that is compatable with the stock oil pump drive also. hth
