Oil pump drive assembly.
Oil pump drive assembly.
I put the oil pump drive assembly back in the car after installing a new cam. It slid in pretty easy, I had to turn it a little bit, but it went all the way in and I bolted back down and everything seemed okay. My question is if it can be installed wrong, because when I went to start the car I didn't get oil pressure? I did not manually prime by the way, I didn't realize you could until after I had the manifold back on, and I really don't want to take the manifold back off.
Re: Oil pump drive assembly.
It always take a couple of seconds for my car to get oil pressure after I change the oil/put the motor back together. A little trick to getting oil pressure faster upon startup is to fill the new filter with oil before you put it on. Ive had the oil pump drive assemble out a few times and as long as it sits flush with the block and was bolted down correctly, I dont see how it could be installed wrong.
Re: Oil pump drive assembly.
Thanks for the reply, I did fill the oil filter with oil, I always do that also. It seemed like it was in right and I figured it was. I put assembly lube on the crank and I soaked the lifters in oil so its not them I'm worried about its the bottom end. I might try to prime it more tomarrow, I just don't want to do it too much and hurt any of the bearings.
Re: Oil pump drive assembly.
If you lubed all of the parts, I think you should be fine. I say pull the coil wire off and crank it over a few times just to make sure that the lifters are properly pumped up and let her rip.
