My car has been wrecked and i have been replacing fenders, bumpers, etc over the last 4 months. i replaced the radiator today and took it for a spin. On my way back home the car suddenly dropped oil pressure and the engine shut off. I can turn the key over and it sounds like it tries to start but it doesnt start. Any ideas on what it could be?

 

Could be as simple as your oil pick up fell off.

Give us more info, how many miles on the motor? etc

 

The motor has 82k miles on it. It was running fine. I kinda raised hell in it for a min or so like WOT in first then hit 2nd and let off. Then as I go down the hill towards my house the the engine kinda burpe then shut off. Then I noticed the oil pressure gauge was sitting on 0 and the check gauges light was on. Also would the oil pickup tube falling off cause the engine not to run?

 

You didn't run it out of gas did you?

Could have locked up the motor how long has it been since you checked the oil?

 

So the engine stalled and then there was no oil pressure. Isn't that what you would expect the oil pressure to do when the engine is no longer running?

 

Im trying to remember if the pressure was at 0 before it started acting up or not.

 

The motor won't have oil pressure if it isnt running. Figure out if its not getting spark or fuel.
