Oil pressure sending unit, uses one connector... but!

There are three terminals on the unit itself, yet the connection for the gauge cluster has on wire.

This tells me, that this sensor is the same one as in the Vette, which shows oil TEMPERATURE.

I wonder if we can rig an electronic gauge to this?

Any thoughts?

Mabye if you got the gauges out of a vette and made your own wires it would work, If anyone has done this I'd like to know.

It probably also is the same one that utilizes a fuel relay shutoff too, but since our harness has only one wire to it, that function can't really happen. So is it for oil temp or fuel pump shut off (or both)?

are you saying that the gauge has to run through the ECM to be functional? I would think if it is a 2 wire gauge it would be as easy as routing the 2 wires from the gauge to the connector and using pins from the delphi kit to make it a 3 wire connector, or mabye purchasing the corvette connector and pigtail from a junkyard.

I'm saying that the one wire runs from the sensor to the gauge and nowhere else. All it can do is report oil pressure.

Is there a 'low oil fuel shutoff' on these cars?
The question arose the other day, and I tend to think NO, but haven't had time to look it up yet?

Charlie, you might find mention of it in the manual, but since we only have the one wire to the gauge, it isn't going to happen.
