oil pressure sending unit

I broke my oil pressure sending unit. My question is does the computer need to see it to run or can i just put a after market unit and gauge in.

On a 4th gen, the sending unit only provides info to the gauge (the computer is not involved). You could even run without it, if you wanted to.

If you replace the sender don't get one from Autozone. I bought one and it lasted a little over the year it was warranted before it started leaking. Bought a lifetime warranty one fron O'reillys and it is still going strong 4 years later.
