Question Oil Pressure sender going bad?

Ever since I put my hot cam in, I've noticed that under WOT my oil pressure drops to about 30 PSI, then once I reach cruise RPM, it finally gets up to 40 PSI were it normally was. Is it possible for the oil pressure sender to be going bad? The motor has 70K miles on it, and I check my oil every 2 weeks, so I know it's always had the proper amount in there. There are no unusual knocks or ticks, so I'm at a loss. Oh....it's also Mobil 1 full synthetic, if it makes a difference....thanks!

Well I would try a new oil pressure sender. Mine did the same thing. But it was worse then yours. I Put the LT4 cam in it and put about 3000 miles on it. I also use Mobil 1. After about 3000 miles I noticed when I got on it or under full throttle, the oil pressure would drop. I tried a new oil sender and it didnt work. I then tried a manual gauge to see if it was the gauge and it was the same. Well to make a long story short. I am putting a new motor in as we speak. I pulled the motor out and found out all the main bearings where gone. They where melted away. The car and motor only have 42000 miles on it. I bought it off of a kid and I think he over revved it a few times. Well Hope your luck is better then mine.

I'm pretty gentle with my car...

What's involved in replacing the sender unit?

The sender is right behind the intake manifold its kinda hard to get a wrench on to it but i went the eas way and just bought the 10 dollar socket to get it off. Wrap up the threads in teflon tape before you put the new one in because they tend to leak a lilttle.
