oil pressure question

i have a 95z and i was driving this weekend and lately it seems to be lacking power well i was watching my oil pressure gauge and when im cruzing at about 55-70 i press the gas and the pressure goes down a little below half but i let off the gas and the oil pressure goes up above half a bit i was wondering if this is a problem and how can i fix it .
thanks josh

Are you in an auto? Does it bog when you press the gas or rev up? If it's dropping when you rev it up then you have a problem. It should increase as the RPM increase about 10 psi for every 1k RPM.

yes it is auto and it starts to drop when i hit about 45 in 5 gear i will have the rpms about 1900 and the oil pressure is higher than when i go to 2200 rpm then if i let off or go higher rmp the oil pressure goes up. just by guessing i would say that the pressure drops maybe 5-10psi

maybe a vacum leak would have something to do with it? just a theory that makes sense in my head but maybe has nothing to do with it

Any good answer on this, as I have the same problem. It seems to only happen with high engine load, high gear (M6) and low rpms. Only thing is my power feels good. I was going to put a mechincal gauge on to see if what its really doing.

Do you have any major mods? I was going to check the rocker settings, change the oil and filter, cut the old one open and check it.

I have found that when the oil pressure drops on acceleration most of the time it is a sign of main bearing trouble, especially if it drops as much as you state and then returns. I would be sure the oil is at a correct level and gauge is correct first. Danny Mc

That's what I would think as well.
