Oil pressure gauge... Problem

I recently changed out the gaskets in my engine when I put it back together the car runs, BUT

the oil guage in my dash reads off of the gauge.

It points straight up past the numbers.

Any ideas why this is happening???

It sounds to me like you may have pinched the wires to your sending unit.Grounding this circuit will make your gauge read full scale.Trace the wires back from the sending unit and make sure the wires did not get pinched under the intake manifold or valve cover.

Re: Oil pressure gauge... Problem

I hate to ask this but...

Sender unit? where is this located at?

I TRIED TO MAKE IT A POINT TO LEARN THE NAMES OF EVERYTHING i TOUCHED UNDER THE HOOD. Because I am not that experienced and I do not know where the sender unit is.

Re: Oil pressure gauge... Problem

The oil pressure sending unit is directly behind the intake manifold on the driver's side of the engine by the firewall on an angle fitting.
