Oil Pressure, engine shutdown?
Oil Pressure, engine shutdown?
Probably, many vehicles have a shutdown system when the oil pressure becomes dangerously low. Is there a good one for the Lt1?
If so, which one, and how does it work?
I don't believe one should be without one.JMHO

Found one com'l jobbie that protects against low pressure, high coolant temp and low coolant level. Price around $200 for the works.
Another outfit said they would fabricate one for the Lt1, for low oil pressure, and sell it to us for between $80-$90.
Commercial system warns about the condition and shuts engine down in 30 sec. Obviously would be too late if you were racing, but it might save the crank, which is much more expensive than bearings.
The fabricated one would have a button which you would need to push when starting, but when the oil pressure dropped whould shut down the engine.
I don't know. Just thought I'd kick it around, since I lost an engine because of low pressure and I know there are more out there who would probably benefit from a shutdown system. Especiallly a simple inexpensive one.JMHO
