Oil pressure dropping under hard braking?
Hey guys,
My oil pressure is dropping under hard braking. It will drop as the car is coming to a stop, stay at Zero( check gauges light comes on for a sec.) then jumps back up to normal once the car is settled and completely still. My car is a 96 WS6 6spd with 60k miles. It's running fine, oil pressure is fine under all conditions EXCEPT under hard braking. I checked the oil( mobil 1 5w30) and it looks fine. I change it every 3000 miles.
Soooo, I'm gonna change the oil and check the filter for contaminants. Any ideas what could be wrong?
I'm praying it's not a bearing
Any input is appreciated
Thanks,
Rob S.

Could be the oil pump pickup fell into the pan. When braking the oil would move forward letting the pump suck air. Drain the oil and rap on the bottom of the pan with a rubber or plastic hammer, to listen for the pickup to jump up and down. Or run a coat hanger thru the oil drain hole to see if you can feel anything in the pan.

Thanks for the quick reply.
It's not low on oil so it must be the pickup.
Do I just drop the pan and reattach the pickup?
thanks,
Rob S.
