oil pres sending unit Q

I saw in one post where shoebox said i dont need to deal with the one behind the intake, instead, i can just use the one from where the older ones are (by oil filter) if i do that, will i be able to easily move the wiring there just by pulling it down? ( i really dont wanna splice wires where i cant see) and if i do this, do i need to drain the oil?

why did they move it up in the 1st place?

can it be cuz since at such a low place, it leaked or had probs at that location? cuz where its at now on the newer ones is just dumb since its nearly impossible to get to...

It has a tendency to get broken at the low location during exhaust work. Trust me, I know.

As far as I know, you can't just move the sending unit. I believe that they actually moved the hole for it, but don't quote me.

You will have to extend the wire. There is no way the connector will reach to near the oil filter. SBC blocks have had those two locations as long as I can remember and most of the time the one behind the manifold was used for the oil sending unit.

There is no need to drain the oil (as I told the other person).

I suspect that with the exhaust arrangement, they moved it back to the top to keep it away from the heat.

Huh....I didn't know they had both holes. Learn something every day. My bad for the misinformation.
