Oil passage question
Oil passage question
Can anyone tell me exactly what path the oil takes from the pump to the oil pressure sending unit? I get no oil up to the sending unit, even with a new pump and I'm trying to trouble shoot the problem.
THanks

Re: Oil passage question
spinning it with a drill and a modified primer since I couldn't get a real one under the cowl
I'm pretty sure it turns clockwise, at least that is how I was able to get oil out of the pump by dipping it in a bucket of oil.
All the gallies are clear. I've checked and rechecked them. Even put on an old oil pump out of my stock LT1 (with the same pickup since the stock one doesn't work in a Canton pan). and still no oil/oil pressure to the sending unit.

Re: Oil passage question
If ya are just using a shaft with no sleeve to go in the block to transfer the oil then there is a big opening in the cam gear area that will not let it build pressure. Look at your pump drive and ya will see. A primer has the piece like the bottom of your drive to build pressure.
