Also on a side not, any of you guys considering buying a chrome pan i would strongly suggest otherwise. I have had the honor of changing a couple of chrome pans because they don't seem to seal very well, but besides that they hold heat like no other pans I have ever seen. I let the vehicle cool for at least an hour and a half before I went to replace it and it was still too hot to touch.

If you keep the stocker i promise problems with windage and oil slosh that will eat horsepower
hmm... i guess you pay for what you get.

it's only a 357 if i remember correctly, do you think he would have a problem with oil control without any additional stroke?

its not the stroke but the force like hard launches or hard turns that does it the more power the more the crank spins and flings oil everywhere thats where the crank scraper comes in to get it off the crank and back to the pan

how about going with a cheaper pan and a crankshaft scraper/upgraded windage tray?

Ive got the 7qt Miloden Stroker pan and it fit without issues. It does practically sit on the K member though, so you cant drop the pan without raising the motor a little..

Re: Oil pans Do traditional SBC pans fit?

well, kits are a little hard to find listed, I recommend one specific for the LT1, as it has the hole for the low oil sensor, as well as the proper clearance for the k-member but if desired, you need a pan for a 1 piece rear main SBC(87 up)a m155hv pump, and a pickup from the oil pan manufacturer to match the pump and the pan depth,
if you call any decent retailer, they should be able to help, summit, jegs, or any one of several sponsors of this board

Re: Oil pans Do traditional SBC pans fit?

Standard volume pumps for SBC are more than adequate. High volumes only serve to heat up the oil by putting too much of it up top. Unless you plan on turning some incredible RPMs, don't bother with them.

Ok I dug around Milodon site and think I have all te pieces except a pick up her they are with summit part numbers

Pan MIL-30902
Pump mil-18770 Big Block Style HV/HP
Pan Gasket MIL-40100
Pump Drive mil-23050

I want the big pump because this is going on a 88k mile stock bottom end that gets the **** beat out of it and up to ~6700 every weekend at the track, I am replacing all this due to the oil uncovering the pickup at the end of a run with the stock Crap. I just want the piece of mind that its getting all the oil it can. I know this isn't the stroker pan but if I rebuild later it would be a 355 anyway. SO will all this fit before I order and wind up with another wrong pan? Anyone know what pick up I will need?
