Oil pan install before timing cover?
I'm going to let a perf. shop change cam, main and rod bearings and check some other stuff as well....
Now I was wondering if it would be a god or bad idea to let them mount the oil pan once the bottom end is all together, this is to help it being clean until I get it and start putting everytning else on. I mean do you have to put the timing cover on at the same time, with the pan lowered in front, in order to not rip the seals in the timing cover and oil pan trying to get it on later?
Edit:
Or I guess they could just mount it, dry, with the seal and no rtv so i can drop it later when I put the timing cover on....seems like a better idea...sometimes I don't try and think a little before I post a mess.

Not talking from experience but from what I have read, the proper way and best way ( oil leak wise ) is to have timing cover in place before installing pan and would have to agree after doing oil pan gasket last summer.
