Oil dipstick tube problems!!!
Oil dipstick tube problems!!!
I forgot to mention this in my last post, but I was installing my oil dipstick tube after the headers were in, and it was being a real PITA so a friend and I were really kinda forcing it and all the sudden it just kinda slipped in and became really loose. I thought maybe i broke the tube inside the block but that wasn't the case... I pulled the tube almost all the way out and it seemed to be in one piece... My concern is; does the tube fit in some sort of sleeve that sits in that hole that I mayebe forced out and into the oil pan
cause that would suck so much!!! Does anyone know what this could be, or did i just bend the tube just right so that it fits perfect now?
any advice would be helpfull, thanks

The stock tube has a "ridge" that sits on the top of of the block. Did you break that little ridge off? I reused my old tube and it did feel somewhat loose compared to how hard it was to get out. The bolt will keep it in and I used a little permatex where the tube goes into the block. No problems yet. However, I did not have to force mine in. It took a while to bend it how I wanted it and it went in easily.
Dont want to be a hijacker, but do you have to take the dipstick out to install Pacesetter LT's? I've heard a lot of people doing this but I also heard you only need to remove the valve covers, starter, plugs and alternator with the Pacesetters. Anyone know? Thanks!
