oil cooler removal help
ok so i decided to remove this
i already have searched on this topic and know what all i have to get to do this mod
but my question is do i have to drain my radiator to accomplish this????
and also would it hurt to change my oil before i'm supposed to???? (might as well do it while i'm at it, right??? ) and how many quarts of oil would i need to change the oil???? (dad makes me take it in and get it changed but hes out of town hehehehe)
also should i even change to oil or just reuse the old, still has 3000 miles until i'm supposed to get it changed (syn oil)????
thanks,
blake

Re: oil cooler removal help
I'm not familiar with the oil cooler option (as I don't have this) but never pour oil back into a motor after it's been drained! If you are going to drain the oil, get 5 qts of new stuff to put back in.
It won't hurt to change the oil before you are supposed to. you could change it every 50 miles if you wanted to.
I recommend you get a book if you are going to be doing work to your car. Sounds like a Haynes or a Chiltons would be fine you.
Thomas.

Re: oil cooler removal help
I have remove a few, there are bolts under the cooler that the filter will hit, so you will need two new bolts, or take the top off of those in there, yes you will need to drain the coolant, but what is the reason for removing it in your case, We did it for turbo and sc placement and routing.
