Oil Cooler Help ~ Big Mess

So last week i pulled my oil cooler and COMPLETELY cleaned it, i didnt even think about it but there was no gasket on the top of it when i pulled it off ( probably was shreded when it came off), anyways i didnt even think about putting one back on and i got to start my car today (havnt drove the Z in about 5 days) and after about 15 min of idling i have a small puddle of oil on the ground. Im 100% sure that this was caused by cleaing that oil cooler. I have two options, get a gasket for it (need the Part# if there is one) or rip the cooler off and just put filter in its place.

Guys who have pulled there coolers- The two studs that block the filter from being screwed on, how do i get them off and what do i replace the holes with. I heard it was 5/8 1 inch 18thread.

Well, you just remove the studs with a wrench, no biggy.

I can't remember what size the bolt is to replace them. I went to the dealer and got the correct part for a Z without the cooler. Though a bolt from the hardware store would work (I know people have used them) the ones from the dealer have a smaller head making it easier to get a socket on it when installing.

Yes, there is supposed to be a seal between the adapter and the block. In 1995 the seal was bonded to the cooler adapter. The loose seal is GM PART # 14087586 .

The bolts you need are 5/16-18x1.12 (1 inch length ought to do), if you want to remove the cooler. You will also need to get the bypass hose that will go straight from the radiator to the water pump.

On my 95, all I see holding the cooler on is the center part the filter screws on to. Is mine different from everyone else?

Do you know what size hose this is an how long it needs to be? I would like to have all the parts ready to go when I do this, so the info would be much appreciated.

I used 5/8 hose and about two feet of it. It slipped on the radiator side really easy but was really tight on the water pump, might wanna go one size bigger or just bore out a lil bit of the side thats gonna go on the water pump
