I'm sure this has probably been asked several thousand times already, but tough ...

I realized today that its been about four months since the last time I changed the oil in my car, and figured I needed to change it again. The thing is, is I've only driven it about 1500 miles in that time. I drive it nearly every day, but its mostly just really short trips. So, would it make a difference if I changed the oil now, or could I wait another 1500 miles?

I've been using Mobil 1, if that helps...

Should be done very 3000 miles or 3 months, the shorter the trips the worse for the car since it never gets completely to operating temp...All the stop and go kills it to. Its actully better for the car to be doing 80 on the highway then it is to drive around the city.

 

I would probably wait. They say change it every 3 months because the oil oxidizes (breaks down because of exposure to oxygen). But I personally think that's too short of a time.
