I know the LT1 is supposed to leak oil....really? Why would you think that? Mine doesn't leak a drop, nor does the trans or rear....

There are a lot of oil additives that are supposed to help but the really don't do much other than sweep some seals. Fix the leak with new seals or gaskets and skip the additives.

The bolts are 3/8"-16 in various lengths.....if there are no spacers at the bolt hole, use 1" length. Any hardware store should be able to help.

Re: Oil Additives

New seals, properly installed, don't leak. Avoid additives.

If the car is leaking on the driveway, replace the seals. If not, change you weight of oil.Never heard of stock exhaust leaking, normally it's the after market headers leak because they need to be tighten all the time.My02.(stuff I read here on previous posts).My02Hope this helps.

Re: Oil Additives

I've replaced my front crank seal, waterpump drive seal, waterpump gaskets, rear intake manifold seal and the rear diff seal and FINALLY have a non-leaking LT1.
*knock on wood* the stock rear crank seal is still holding strong!

"fix a leak" additives are bad bad bad for your motor.

Re: Oil Additives

Yeah i think i need to replace the crank seal. just did full top end rebuilt 1st time i did it. just went off of internet guides and help from everyone on the Fourms turned out well. what im thinking its where the y pipe connects to the manifold on the passenger side. i think the three bolts are not tight enough i remember having stripped on. so im gonna take my starter out and just mess with that till i get the sound to go away.

Re: Oil Additives

Depending on mileage there may be a nice groove worn into the hub from the seal, mine did so I had to replace the hub in order to keep it from leaking. You can also sleeve the hub, had to do this on a non-LT motor a while ago.
